The Commercial Manager role
This is a senior, hands-on role focused on making sales and growth predictable, sustainable, and no longer MD-dependent. You’ll take full ownership of the sales function end-to-end, from lead qualification through to closing, while designing and improving a sales system that performs consistently over time.
You’ll be directly involved in selling and closing work, not operating purely at a strategic level. This role is suited to someone who wants genuine ownership, authority, and accountability rather than just targets to hit.
Key responsibilities

Owning the agency’s sales function end-to-end

Leading sales conversations and closing retainer-based work

Designing, running, and improving a reliable sales system

Maintaining a healthy, forecastable pipeline

Making commercial decisions independently

Selling honestly and accurately, without overpromising

Applying pricing frameworks consistently and declining poor-fit opportunities

Balancing revenue growth with delivery capacity and long-term retention

Supporting recruitment execution where additional delivery capacity is required

Collaborating closely with internal teams to align sales with delivery reality
