Software Development Manager – E-commerce – Newton-le-Willows – Hybrid

An established and growing e-commerce organisation is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead its front-end engineering function.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage a team of five Front-End Engineers, owning the delivery of customer-facing e-commerce platforms. You will work closely with Product, UX, and wider engineering teams, remain involved in technical decision-making, and help drive best practice across performance, security, and code quality.

Key experience required:

  • Experience as a Software Development Manager, Engineering Manager, or Lead Developer

  • Strong e-commerce background (online retail or high-traffic transactional platforms)

  • JavaScript and Node.js development experience

  • Proven experience leading front-end engineering teams

  • Comfortable balancing people management with hands-on technical leadership

  • Experience with React or similar frameworks

  • Terraform or Infrastructure as Code experience is highly desirable
