What is the Value of your Degree?

the value of your degree With student loans being a large portion of young adults’ debt, choosing the right college and degree can be a key component to being successful. You want to choose a degree that will fit well with your career path, a degree that holds value for you. But just how sure are you that your degree will equal a job post-grad? True, full-time employment after graduation is more than previous years, but not by much. Less than 2%, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency. So what can you do to be absolutely sure you choose the right degree and ultimately get yourself a career after graduation?

First, think about what you want your career to be. If you know what you want to do, choose a college that is in a place where your career is popular, where there are sure to be jobs available once you graduate. If you are not sure what you would like to do, choose a more broad degree option, such as Business Administration, which opens the door to many opportunities. As disheartening as it can be, you put so much money, time, and effort into achieving a degree and sometimes this isn’t enough to get you the job you want. Fortunately there are things you can do to make yourself more marketable. You can volunteer at a company that is popular for your career choice. Work experience is very important also. Ultimately, it is all up to you. You’re persistence is key in getting you where you want to be.
